Our mission is to strengthen Africa’s cyber resilience through  research and targeted capacity building. C3SA was established as the regional leader in conducting cybersecurity maturity assessments, applying the Cybersecurity Maturity Model (CMM) to evaluate and advance both national and institutional resilience across the continent.

C3SA forms part of the global constellation of regional cybersecurity capacity research centres, which includes the Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre (GCSCC) and the Oceania Cyber Security Centre (OCSC). It operates as a consortium between Research ICT Africa (RIA), the The School of IT  at the University of Cape Town (UCT), the GCSCC at the University of Oxford, and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI).

Hosted by the University of Cape Town, C3SA functions as a coordination and collaboration hub for cybersecurity capacity-building actors, working to reduce duplication of efforts and strengthen collective impact in the region. In addition, C3SA is a partner of the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE) – a global forum dedicated to advancing cyber capacity and expertise worldwide.
