C3SA is part of the global constellation of regional cybersecurity capacity research centres which includes the Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre (GCSCC) and Oceania Cyber Security Centre (OCSC). C3SA is a consortium between Research ICT Africa (RIA), the Department of Information Systems (DIS) at the University of Cape Town (UCT), the Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre (GCSCC) at the University of Oxford, and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI).
Target Groups & Beneficiaries
At C3SA, we strive to Strengthening the African region’s competence to safeguard, fight and recover from cybercrime to create a safe digital society. The primary target groups of the C3SA are national government departments responsible for cybersecurity capacity, legislators and policy makers, international and regional intergovernmental organisations, capacity-building organisations, the private sector, and public and private development partners.
We focus on countries in Sub-Saharan Africa the countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) including Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe; as well as countries in the project partners’ networks, such as Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Tunisia, Uganda, and wherever the need of C3SA support arises.
C3SA places particular importance on involving women in both research and capacity-building activities, considering that they are currently under-represented in the regional (and international) cybersecurity space.
