Dr Laban Bagui

Dr Laban Bagui is a Senior Researcher & CMM Deployment Lead with the C3SA/UCT Department of Information Systems. In that capacity, he has led CMM reviews of African countries; hosted cybersecurity awareness-raising webinars, conducted research on cybersecurity policy in Africa, and attracted research funding from NRF and ICANN. Laban has worked for various industries, including Higher Education as Lecturer and researcher, Internet Service Providers as Technician, Television broadcasting as broadcasting coordinator, and mobile software engineering as project manager. He holds a PhD in Information Systems and has completed a post-doctoral fellowship in cybersecurity at the Department of Information Systems - University of Cape Town (UCT). Laban research interests include Cybersecurity policy in Africa, eParticipation in Africa, African e-Commerce entrepreneurship, and networked learning.
